2nd Team Stun Aberdeen Uni 1s

This BUCS Wednesday saw the best performance from our 2nd team so far this season with a confident 2-0 win against Aberdeen University at home. Our 2s were more determined than ever this week to show Aberdeen what they're made of after having lost 6-0 against them in the first leg. It was only 4 mins after the whistle had been blown for kick off when the first EUWAFC goal came. A great build up play in midfield which led to a through ball for POTM Lily Chubb who controlled the ball beautifully and slotted it home past the Aberdeen keeper. Not long after, at 13 mins, Edinburgh won a corner. Bailey Bender stepped up, bending a perfectly placed ball into the opponent's penalty box. This allowed for the mighty 5ft 2 Eva Steele to soar above the defenders and header it into the back of the net, awarding her the first of Coach Dezza's Chocolate Orange awards this season and giving our 2nd team a 2-0 lead!! The team maintained this result until half time, at which point Coach Nic Sturrock gave her team talk, telling the girls to not get comfortable and giving them the confidence to keep the pressure and tempo levels high. There were no more goals in the second half, although two dangerous free kicks were called against our 2s, which could have been fatal had it not been for Hannah Michie's trusty hands making two remarkable saves. Overall, it was a tremendous team and individual performance and effort, allowing the 2s to secure this week's victory. Next week the 2s go head to head with the 1s, and following on from this win it's set to be fantastic game of football!
